June 9, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm UTC+3

RightCon brings together participants from all over the world to discuss human rights in the digital age. As the Media Futures East Africa we are privileged to be part of this year’s RightsCon as our proposal for a panel discussion was accepted. The RightsCon 2021 will support 500+ sessions and we are glad our panel discussion titled – Media Viability and Press Freedom: Towards actionable policy recommendations to support news media viability in East Africa – is slated for Wednesday June 9, 2021 at 12.15pm East African Time.

The overarching goal of the discussion is to identify actionable policy recommendations to support media viability in East Africa. Our panel discussion will be anchored on the findings of a research project on national factors influencing media viability in East Africa. By joining the discussion, you will not only be mapping your organisation and what you do in a global conference, but also enrich the discussion and help the conveners draw conclusions on opportunities and limitations; interventions and pathways for protecting democratic public discourse in an increasingly digitized public sphere.

As Media Innovation Centre at Aga Khan University and DW Akademie, we are inviting you to join the discussion and take this early opportunity to register here Register – RightsCon Summit where you will have the free tickets option, but only if register by May 21, 2021.
